Here is hopefully the first of a weekly post of five things I’ve enjoyed this week, a list of stuff I’ve looked at, thought about, and enjoyed. Not always links, but mostly. There’s a bit of a vehicular vibe going on with this one but that’s just a first post anomaly.
- This vehicle is design stripped back to it’s purest form. Utilitarianism at it’s finest. It carries, you, your friends and your things to places. It’s not at all practical for modern life but I do like the idea of the kind of life that it is suited to. (Sadly the reality is it’s actually just a cool toy for tech bros)
- Another Vehicle. This one 3D printed. Entirely impractical but cool as fuck, and maybe a step towards the democratisation of design? Also Ivan’s Vibe is next level. Love it.
- Le Mans GT40s for the Win (Literally). I’m not really a Motorhead but there’s definitely a theme coming through in this post’s links. These Le Mans, Ford Super cars are up there on my favourite pieces of design. 1966 and still a dream to look at.
- Cats are my favourite people. These Bodega Cats are awesome. I’m absolutely here for more cats in shops. Cat’s in ‘indy’ bookshops are a bit of a thing here, but in bodegas or convenience stores is rad. It definitely has a cat’s FU Vibes.
- Dungeon Crawler Carl is bonkers. I’ve just read book two and it’s mental. Picture a man (Carl) and his ex-girlfriend’s sentient, Persian cat (Princess) fighting monsters in a wildly violent dungeon/video game based reality at the end of the world as part of an alien type of Big Brother reality TV Show and you’re pretty much caught up. It’s ridiculous and I love it. Now to read something more cerebral to balance things out before I’m 8 books deep in this adventure.
